The other week…

…my girlfriend took me to Alma Park Zoo just north of Brisbane to go hang out with some red pandas.

They pretty strong for little guys. They would grab the bowl and pull it towards themselves, and it was kind of difficult to pull it back a bit. They have really sharp claws also, as I found out twice. A lot sharper then your household cat.

This rad guy was just chilling out too.

Backwards Trackstand Hop Barspin

Yeah, you heard right. More awesomeness from Burd.

Tiles

I just got a package with about 1,500 20×20x20 triangular tiles. I have been waiting on these for a little while now so I can start on a mosaic I have wanted to do for even longer. Finding someone who makes small equilateral triangle tiles in the colours I was after was quite time consuming.

RIP Ryan August

The man behind “I Want Your Skull” passed away last weekend in a traffic collision.

His wife posted this on IWYS -
On Saturday, July 11th… my husband, Ryan August, and our son Declan were in a car accident on their way home from Atlanta. They were driving through a storm when Ryan’s car left the road and struck a tree. Declan, secured in his car seat, made it through with minor cuts and bruises. Ryan died on impact.

Ryan was a wonderful husband and the most devoted father I have ever seen. I cannot not begin to imagine our lives without him….

I know that he has many friends out there and I wanted to let everyone know what happened. Right now there is so much to deal with that I am struggling to keep it all moving…. but when I can I will set to honoring his commitments involving I Want Your Skull and its related blog. Right now I am focused on our son and trying to understand the unfathomable.

My thoughts go out to his wife Sarah and son Declan.

If you didn’t know, a piece of mine was printed in the latest issue of IWYS. I am proud to have been a part of it and have thanked Ryan on a few occasions for the opportunity. Hopefully his project will be carried on in his memory.

Do Want - The Bianchi Edition

I have been slightly obsessed with this frame and its iconic colour since I started riding fixed gear bikes and reading blogs on said topic. There is just something about it that sucks me in everytime I see one.

Well good news for me is that Bianchi is reissuing it. Pity I will still probably never own/ride one. I can dream though.

Marathon Update

A bit has been happening lately.

Played shows with Dangers & Graf Orlock from California and Carpathian from Melbourne.

Our EP has been released and is getting some great feedback which is almost great to hear. Big thank you to Greg Bower/Arrest Records Australia for this.

We have booked a tour down the East Coast of Australia in August. We are going to be playing with some awesome bands along the way and have tried to make as many of the shows All Ages to give the younger kids a chance.

Set up a blog.

And we are playing a show this Saturday at Burst City (across the road from the dinosaurs at the museum) with Time Has Come, Totally Unicorn, Knives to the Throne and Only Sleeping. Doors are at 5:30pm and costs $10.
